How to Move Out of Your Apartment

The day will come when you have to say goodbye to your apartment. This is the time when you should start sending your apartment notice 30 or 60 days before your move. You should also start cleaning up your place and be sure that it is in its good condition. You may want to repaint the walls or wash the carpets.  Remove all the wall decorations as well as the nails or some tape that is used to held a poster in the wall. If you are living in a dorm, you must check if you need to secure an inventory released by the Housing Department as a proof that you left the place clean and intact.

You can also have a sublettor for your unit but you must check with the landlord or the owner first. You have to remember that you are responsible for your sublettor's behaviour. Also, when you think that you can getaway with just leaving the place that is a bad idea. You have to settle your security deposits as most owners subtract the wear and tear damage to your initial deposits. This may take up some time before it's finalized so be sure to inform your landlord of your new address. You can also ask for a written recommendation from the owner to prove your new landlord that you have a good character.
