DIY Packing vs. Packing Services We all want to save money during our removals. After all, a lot of money is going to be spent if you are moving into a new home. This could include rent deposits, down payments on a house etc. It is for this reason that many people decide to hold back when it comes to hiring professional removal services, including packing services. They believe that by handling these parts of the removals themselves, they are going to be able to save some money, which in theory, they can. But, at which cost? This article aims to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of doing your own packing in comparison to having professional members of staff come and pack your items for you. The first factor to consider is time. If you are working full time or have a family to attend to, you may find that time is not on your side. Packing is a very time consuming thing and cannot be done overnight. If you have the time, then by all means go ahead and start packing on your own. However, if time is something that you do not have, then the best thing for you to do is hire a packing service that will be able to do all of your packing whilst you get on with your daily life. Another thing you need to consider is quality. The question you need to ask yourself is whether you are going to be able to pack your belongings as well as a professional can? Professional packers have been trained to handle all of your belongings in a way that is going to keep them safe. They know about all of the little tricks that make packing a success e.g. they know what type of box to use, how to keep items protected etc. For example, many people do not know that wardrobe boxes are available which act as a normal wardrobe, meaning that your clothes can be packed in a way that are not going to cause them to tear or become crinkled. However, professional packers will know this, and will use these great, effective tools to give you the best service possible. Another thing you need to consider is speed. Experience and repetition has allowed professional packers to become so good at what they do that they can do it in the fraction of a time that you could do it. So if you know that your removal date is creeping up very soon, it will always be best to hire someone professional who will be able to get the job done in time. If you try to rush and get it done on time, you will find that you will miss things and get things wrong, which will leave you very frustrated and unhappy. If saving money is the main thing on your mind, then hiring professional people to come and pack for you is probably not the best idea. Handling your own packing and removal is going to save you a lot of money which can be used in other ways, so always think about budget before making such a decision. Whilst there are advantages and disadvantages on both sides, you as a person wishing to move need to think about more than just saving money. All of the factors mentioned above need to be considered before deciding on whether a service will be hired or not. Remember that a practical, well thought decision is a wise decision!
