5 Tips for Packing When Moving House When it comes to moving house, one of the things that people seem to find the most stressful is actually packing up all of their belongings. This is completely understandable; if you have ever moved house before, then you will know all too well just how much stress is involved in packing up your entire life into boxes. However, there are actually quite a few things that you can do that will make things a lot easier. With this in mind, here are 5 tips that will help you with the packing process associated with moving house. 1.    Never leave it until the last minute – If this is the first time that you have moved house, then you will probably be finding it very tempting to simply leave everything until the last minute. However, this really is one of the worst things that you can do, when it comes to moving house. Instead, you need to make sure that you begin the packing process well ahead of time. Pack up any non-essentials weeks ahead of your big move. The only thing that should be left until the last minute is your essential items. 2.    Bubble wrap is always a good idea – Whilst it may seem like a very good idea to simply use newspaper to wrap all of your breakable items, this is simply not going to offer enough protection. However, what many people may not realise is that bubble wrap really does go a long way, and it can offer a great amount of protection to any breakable items that you may wish to pack. The good news is that it is also very affordable, so it is definitely worth buying. 3.    Invest in some quality storage boxes – Although it may be cheaper to go around the supermarkets collecting old cardboard boxes, it is not exactly the best idea. For one, most of the major supermarkets will recycle their cardboard these days. Secondly, it is important to remember that these types of boxes have been used already, so their strength will have been compromised. If you want to make sure that your moving boxes are durable, then it is best to invest in some quality storage boxes, which are actually fairly inexpensive. 4.    Don’t pack what you don’t need – Before you even begin packing your belongings, it would be a very wise idea to have a major clear out. We have all made the mistake of packing things that we don’t actually need to pack. Before you begin packing your things, it is a good idea to have a huge sweep of your house. Chuck out anything that you don’t need, and anything that you don’t use. You will probably find yourself surprised by how much you actually throw out. This is going to make packing a lot easier for everyone involved. 5.    Rent storage space if you need to – If there are things that you don’t want to throw out, but you also don’t want to take with you to your new place, then it is definitely a good idea to consider renting some storage space. There are storage units up and down the country, and they can actually be very useful indeed. If you want to save some space in your new home, but you don’t want to chuck out anything that has sentimental value but no place in your new home, then storage space may be an affordable way of storing your belongings.
