6 Tips On Moving With Children If you have a family and are planning a domestic removal, then you will need to think carefully about how you are going to run the process with the children in mind. There is a great deal that your removal services can do to ensure that you are getting things underway with the removal, but the fact of the matter is that your kids are your responsibility, and keeping them happy whilst you move house can be a nightmare! We have a number of tips for your house removal that will keep you mindful of your children, though of course everyone’s family is different, and you need to work out how you can effect these ideas in your own home removal. 1.    Comfort for your kids is a big part of moving house. If you have children that are a little bit younger, then the period where your belongings are packed up can be a bit of a nightmare, especially when they are still feeding, or getting messy as toddlers! You will find that having a box for all of their things open at all times leading up to the day that your removal company comes over will be a big help, as you will always know where their things are.2.    Involvement is also very important. Whilst your children will not be suited to packing boxes of delicate things, they can help you with things like handing you packing supplies whilst you are loading the removals boxes, or even packing their own toys in to their own boxes. This is a great way to make them feel like they are part of the process, which will hopefully dispel any feelings that the removal is being done to them rather than with them. 3.    Friends can be one of the most difficult sticking points in a removal for your children. Whilst an adult will understand that friends will always be friends, no matter where you are in the world, it is harder for children. Arranging actual dates for visits, and sorting out email or phone numbers, so that there is still a link between your kids and their friends is important, and will hopefully get them a bit happier about the removal,4.    Safety is key on any domestic or commercial removal, and if you have a team of movers in your home lifting large items of furniture, then you are going to have to keep an eye on your children the whole time! You will find that children are sometimes pretty entertained by the commotion, and can get in the way, which can be extremely dangerous if they are small, and the removal team don’t see them!5.    The journey between the properties is a large part of the move, and frankly the only part of the move that your children will have to suffer! Ensure that they are in a car that can take breaks, and sort out a favorite game or portable player for a film or cartoon that they love. This can be very calming as well as distracting, and will ensure that the kids are not so much of a hassle for an hour or so! 6.    Distractions during the times when you need your children out of the way are like god dust. If the weather is good and you can get them playing with a ball outside, then they will not be in the house hassling you as you try to pack, or when the removal team are around. Otherwise, a favorite video game, book, DVD or TV program can be a good way to keep them occupied. Younger children will obviously need supervision however!
