However, it is a disadvantage to people who like to modify their place - while you can do some minor changes to your space, you need the approval of the landlord if you want to do something drastic, like paint the walls or have the bathroom complete redecorated - and even if the landlord or the landlady agrees, you shoulder the expenses and cannot refund it if you decide to move someplace else.
