The Western and Paddington district in London represent a large area that features number of Boroughs such as Kensington & Chelsea and Camden. It is near the River Thames and covers the centre to the west of the region. W3 is one of the twenty-six smaller postcode sections that make up the area. They range between W1 and W14, with the former having it's own subsections. One of these is non-geographic however, and so does not represent a specific location. These new locales allowed for the improvement to mail delivery, transportation and navigation.
W3 covers the area that includes Acton, East Acton and West Acton. These are within the Boroughs of Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham and Hounslow and use the post town address of LONDON. W4, W5, W10, W12 and TW8 are some of the nearby postcode areas and include place such as Chiswick, Ealing, North Kensington, Shepherds Bush and Brentford. House prices have been progressively rising here, with homes now going between approximately £318,000 to £1,040,000 for one to five bedrooms and flats beginning at about £226,000 for one room, and increasing to £376,000 for four bedrooms. The most expensive homes in W3 are found in Hale Gardens.
Acton contains many homes and has recently had development occurring to create new ones. It has a large Polish population that has moved here since the end of the Second World War, and there are also communities formed by people from Ireland, Australia, Somalia, South Africa and Japan. There are many pubs located here and the diverse populace means there are eateries with many international styles. The main high street contains many stalls and there is a regular market. Exceptional Victorian architecture can be witnessed in the form of the local library and swimming baths and multiple railway stations allow for easy travel. It is a spot that is regularly used for filming television shows, with programmes such as Only Fools & Horses and Monty Python's Flying Circus being shot here.
