We all want to live somewhere that will make us feel happy, comfortable and safe and to do this we have to pick the right area. The London region is vast and offers many different things but you’re sure to find everything you want if you search properly, starting with the W postcode district.
The Western and Paddington (W) postcode area is one of them and is responsible for the entire Borough of Westminster and parts of the Boroughs of Camden, Kensington & Chelsea, Ealing, Hounslow, Hammersmith & Fulham and Brent. It runs alongside the River Thames, moving westward from the centre of London. The are many smaller postcode areas here, ranging from W1 (which itself has many subdivisions) to W14. These were introduced as an effort to improve street signs and mail delivery, as well as make navigation and travel easier and more accurate.
The W1J district covers Piccadilly, the Royal Academy and the south of Mayfair, all of which are within the Borough of Westminster and have the post town address of London. W1 is bordered by the W2, SW1, WC1, WC2 and NW1 areas, which contain Bayswater, Camden Town, Bloomsbury, Covent Garden, Belgravia and many more places. Unsurprisingly for a central London location house prices here are fairly high. Flats are available and begin at around £614,000 for one bedroom and increase up to approximately £2,374,000 and £3,592,000 for three and six bedrooms. Single bedroom home are available for roughly £1,776,000 and increase for each additional room, with six bedroom homes being the maximum and selling for about £7,687,000.
The Mayfair area is mostly a commercial sector, but the homes included are mansion blocks, luxurious conversions, small mews cottages, modern flats and more.
There are many offices and corporate headquarters situated here, as well as embassies. There are numerous exclusive retailers here as well as lavish hotels, clubs and restaurants. Other notable locations in the area include Burlington Arcade, The Royal Academy of Arts, The Handal House Museum and the Grosvenor House Claridge's and The Dorchester hotels. Piccadilly is home to Fortnum & Mason department store, the Ritz Hotel, the RAF Club, Hatchards book shop, the Japanese and Maltan embassies and the flagship store of Waterstone's. The prestigious Royal Academy of Arts is also here and aims to promote the arts and creativity. Transport is covered by numerous tube stations, roads, railways and bus services.
